Kentucky Derby 2020 Horse Racing is Scheduled for Saturday, September 5 due to continuing coronavirus precautions. Originally Churchill Downs would hold the 146th Run on Saturday.
It is still scheduled for airing on NBC at 3 pm ET, and will be available for streaming on NBCSports.com and the NBC Sports app.
Kentucky Derby 2020 Horse Race It is the first time the Derby hasn't been running on the first Saturday in May since 1945 and the third time in history that the race wasn't held in May.
We believe that shifting our iconic event to this year's Labor Day Weekend will give our country time to curb the spread of coronavirus, "Churchill Downs Inc. Chief executive Bill Carstanjen said. "It will also allow more flexibility for our guests to reschedule their travel and hotel arrangements so they can attend."
